It's a party!

Tomorrow night, the 31st of May, at Little Markov bar on Drummond St at 7.00pm - 9.00pm I will be hosting a little party.  An opportunity to mingle with other vintage fashion fans, dress up and drink champagne (first glass on me), see some of my pieces in the flesh (or rather the fabric) and go home with a little Leah May goodie.

So if you're in the area, or you're willing to make a trip to the area, please come and join me!

Candy

Thanks to a rather fabulous (and raunchy) add for Calvin Klein that my dear friend - and publicist - sent me in an email this morning I realised that it's been a while since I've enjoyed some truly good man candy.  My eye candy for the last few months has focused more on fashion than the people wearing it and while that love still continues it's nice to have a little variety.  So for those of you who, like me, like to have something yummy (that doesn't go straight to your hips) every now and again here is some candy.
Ahhhh Becks

Man Candy AND Fashion Candy

Cary Grant - classic.

Soccer players always look so good in their underwear...

Gotta love '90s Brad

Sean Connery if you keep looking at me with those bedroom eyes I won't be responsible for my actions

I can't help it, I love Hugh as Wolverine, so dirty and muscly and sharp.

I also love Jake, but what I really love about this pic is that even though he's in tighty-whiteys, his socks match the carpet and he's mimicking Grace Jones he's still hot.  Extra credit.

The photo my friend sent me this morning.  Thanks Christina.

Destined for Dresses

While unpacking, organising and repacking my boxes from my last move/trip overseas I found my baby book.  With the nostalgia that comes from looking at how cute we were as kidlets (rosy cheeks, chubby legs, hair in pigtails) I also realised I was destined to have a preference for gorgeous outfits and tailor-made clothes.  Before I was even old enough to remember I was extremely well dressed.  Once I started being dressed – for the first year I seem to only wear a singlet and naught else, I’m going to go with the tropical climate rather than my parents being reluctant to cloth me.  As mentioned my Nana was a remarkable seamstress and all my outfits are made by her, smocked by her and accessorised with matching cardies/tights/shoes by her.
One of the Nana cardies, to match the dress she made me.

That's right, matching hat AND mittens

Early Nana dress, can't tell in this pic but my wool tights have matching smocking on them

Second birthday dress, made by Nana

There was reoccurring theme of scotty dogs in Nana's work.  What I'm really showing off here are my new (and first pair of) red boots

More fantastic smocking by Nana

Yep I was just meant to have fabulous clothes all my life, just like my brother was destined to be a chef (there's barely a photo of him as a babe/kidlet without food also being prominent).  Looking at your baby photos what were you destined for?
